cameron
My faculty had a trip to Cameron Highland's from the 4th to 6th of Sept. It was really cool (pardon the pun) cos most of me coursemates went. It was some sort of a post Dogathon outing for us:) and yeah it also marked the first time I-Lene went for a zoologico trip with us! 3 cheers! haha...
neway, when we went up. we sort of got lost cos we couldn't seem to find the place where we staying. a little on that later. at the foot of the highlands we stopped at Kuala Woh. It's this hot springs place where kids were boiling eggs while the "older" kids played with the hot water and shouted once in a while (must have been due to the water's high temperature).
we had our lunch there and then we started going up. and up and up. we passed by tanah rata, heck even brinchang and we couldn't find the place where we booked yet. looking out the window we saw this

so naturally, we called "Pak Cik boleh henti?" Dug out our wallets and made a beeline to the stall. heheh. pretty expensive if you asked me (RM2 for 3 strawberries). but boy were they good.
since we were already lost we decided to go ahead and went to the butterfly farm where we saw dozens of Rajah Brooke butterflies (I heard they were endangered) adn also moths mating (I think they were Atlas moths). It was raining when we were there so I guess the butterflies were feeling lazy and just didn't bother to fly. Actually, it must have been to the high moisture content in the air which made them reluctant to fly.
After many phone calls and much travelling later, we finally found out the place where we were supposed to live. It was way before Tanah Rata. so can you imagine the distance we travelled? The road leading to the MNS (Malaysian Nature Society) Boh Tea Plantation dorms was quite long and very windy. Took us about half an hour just to get to the dorms. By the time we reached the place it was already getting dark.
we had bbq that night. the nx mroning, took the opportunity to stand amidst the tea plants to snap a picture:P

really the nice lah...
we headed on to MARDI where they had really nice plants/flowers...

and rows of strawberries...

and also little yellow flowers...

the pics were really nice and as you can see, the fresh air was doing us good cos we were all so smiley:D
next up, lunch. We went to parit falls. ok, dowan to talk about the falls cos memang terrible but the jungle trek was nice. It's nice to trek in cool air. Looked up at the sky and guess what I saw

nice rite?
for tea (no not as in tea for drinking but as in tea time. yes we had tea time. actually, the whole trip turned out to be some undercover feedlotting programme to make us fat in the hopes of us being able to understand what the animals go through when they undergo this programme. btw, feedlotting is when you put animals in special stalls and they are fed day in day out in the hopes they'll put on weight before they get slaughtered.) we went to T cafe in town. their apple pie and vanilla ice-cream wasn't too bad. the mango lassi was pretty sour though. I guessed it must have been teh weetness of the apple pie and ice-cream masked it's sweetness and only brought out the sourness. Guess the lassi would have tasted better with stuff less sweet. my friend's chocolate milkshake was pretty good tho.
we then headed to this pancake stall (yes more food) run by this couple with hearing problems (they either were deaf or hard of hearing). We had to order by writing on pieces of paper. was happy to find out they knew sign language. but then I was so terribly rusty, but still could communicate a bit lah... had peach pancakes. they were nice:)
in the evening we headed back to our dorms and took the time to admire the scenery.

that night we had steamboat:D
next morning, woke up particularly early to catch the sunrise. caught this pic when my friends were unaware.

as we were going back that day, we packed our stuff into the vans and headed out. Managed to grab some shots of the beautiful landscape while trying my best to maintain balance in the rocking van.

thank goodness for the ability to set to fast shutter speed.
we went for another trek. this time in the mossy jungle. the place was really really beautiful and was somewhat fairy-tale like. it was near the peak of Gunung Brinchang.

had a slow trek cos we were busy ooh-ing and aah-ing at the scenery left, right and centre. and yeah also up...

and down...

after that we had lunch:) and went up this tower where we were surrounded by mist. ou could actually see the swirls of mist enveloping you and boy was it cold! before long, it was time to start our descent.
but before that we had to stop at Kasimanis (a strawberry farm) for those really great iced-strawberry lollies. they had the best!

these were our first iced lollies for the trip. we had these after the choc strawberries. heheh, they were the first of many more to come.
on the way down, a few of the girls vomited and we had to stop for brief periods. then halfway home, the other van broke down. so we were all sitting by the highway. luckily there were UPM buses ferrying students which passed by so the ppl in the other van hitched a ride with them while the rest of us took the van which was working.
was real tired when reached back. but being Malaysians we still had time for mamak:P
thus ended our fattening programme. till the next one!
